I think he should keep the bar open and rename it The General's Happy Drinking Place.
That said, poor guy. :(
I wonder how long ago it was that he decided to take up drinking. You'd think his wife's death and Elanor's retreat into her dreams with Takashi might have been it but I only seem to recall mention of him retreating into his work, eventually rising to the status of General. I guess it might have taken her sometime to notice considering how withdrawn she is, but then again maybe he cracked sometime after her 13th. You reach the top of your career and suddenly there's nowhere to keep working towards so you find the next outlet.
I'm actually liking the thought that Elanor and her father might actually open up to each other for once and she might finally get a feel for how deeply he really does love and need her together with how badly the death of her mother shook him up. Heh, the funny thing is that this could really turn Elanor around from leaving him alone to be with Takashi. Still worried about what Captain America's presence could mean but then I still like the guy for actually ripping Elanor out of her little dream world there.

Loving it, semi disappointed with the turn of events for Ellie, but still loving it :3
Mostly, poor General. D= He definitely needs his Happy Drinking Place!
I kinda guessed you wouldn't go the dramatic "rape, kidnap, murder schemes, misunderstandings!" route, and am glad that you did not. This is a beautiful page and you can almost HEAR the sorrow and... and /pain/, in the General's voice.
Then again, she might not've heard anything and just be pissed that he vanished (again) and turned up at the bar, drinking (assumedly - again). D: Either way, I'm sure it's an interesting eyeful for Takashi.

Elanor's silhouette looks as if she's thinking "Oh dad, you're not drinking again, are you?" which I love. I wish I could draw like that, but so far I'm not a brush stroke past imagined flowers :p
This is a wonderful story, with beautiful artwork.
Keep up the great work you two!!
I know of at least 1 webcomic that I started purchasing as individual comic book style pieces and then later it was released with essentially 4 comic vols published in a bound paperback (or hardcover) style edition. So I ended up buying parts of it twice in order to buy the nicer bound paperback version. In any case the point of this long round-about tale is I'd eagerly await buying Dreamless in a bound book longer arc/complete series format if such a thing is possible for the future.
It's my thinking that she heard everything. She walked in with the young guy, but her dad didn't even turn around, didn't look, and she stayed by the door. He doesn't know she's there.
"I wonder what brought about this sudden change to do good by his daughter? Probably because he knows how he's always acted is what drove his wife away."
He acted fine before her death. As he just said, he's only ever drank in this bar, and they moved to California shortly before his wife's death (that was also stated in the comic, forgot what page). He started drinking at some point after his wife's death. The "sudden change," if there is one (no need to assume it's sudden -- it's simply a more drastic attempt than before, we can assume), is because Elanor's 18 now and graduating soon, might leave and never see him again, and also because he's nearing the point where he could lose his very important job.
"are there any plans for future printings of the story in a more substantial form that comic issues?"
Yes, that will definitely happen.
"I know of at least 1 webcomic that I started purchasing as individual comic book style pieces and then later it was released with essentially 4 comic vols published in a bound paperback (or hardcover) style edition."
Did that happen to be "Last Blood"?
Love the way Mr. Crosby writes and Ms. Ellerton does the art. I want to do a comic one day, and you two are really an inspiration x3. Like very much too Takashi and Elanor's relationship.
Keep the great and beautiful work!

Excellent :D

Sorry, it was "Looking for Group", although I do know and enjoy Last Blood.
That, or Elanor's mom did have a Dreamless lover other than the father, and is torn apart by the fact that she was with Elanor's father, but still loved the other man? I'm probably reading too much into what I think are subtle hints; I'm just gonna' assume that Elanor's mom is just haunted by her own non-supernatural problems...
Unless someone can tell me otherwise, of course! =)
Heck I'd love to see a combined Last Blood Vol 1, Marry Me Vol 1 and Dreamless in a single book one day. Whats that? 270 pages? Throw in an exclusive cover and maybe even an exclusive short story from one of the artists and you've got yourself a good seller that will get buys from anyone who's a major fan of any of the stories or any of the artists themselves.
...I wonder if there would be enough people interested in a Patchtogether statue of the two of them together in an embrace to get sales. I'm pretty sure plenty of the Jonas and Anya statues sold when Sarah did it for TPR *shrug*
I just discovered this comic yesterday (I think it was a sidebar link on Two Lumps?).
This is amazing! I can hardly wait 'till Monday. :)
Great work Mr. Crosby and Ms. Ellerton (but you know that)! Been a fan for a couple of years and don't intend to leave anytime soon.
