It's possible that it's just a prank by some friends, though I think it a horrible joke. We know he's gotten at least ONE letter from America, when Elanor sent him her hair. I have no idea how paranoid the Japanese were about that kind of thing, but I think it was probably pretty high. On the other hand, the Japanese government/military would simply have taken him in for questioning without playing games. So this is almost certainly a 'civilian' thing. I admit to being completely in the dark as to who's doing this...
To Megii -- all I know is that the military are compulsive about numbering and labelling equipment - so it's probably just a number.
Crazy.
Panel 5. Takishi: Who the heck is THAT?
The uniform insignia is all wrong. I can't even tell if he's a private or a junior officer. If that's a silver oak leaf on his collar in panel 4 then he is incredibly young to be a lieutenant colonel, and it belongs on his shoulder epaulet, not his collar, which should have a gold disk with US on it.
His hair... the only way he could have his hair that long is if he's part of the Signal Corps, is assigned to code-breaking duty, and they let him be eccentric because he's a genius at cryptanalysis, but that's a very long stretch.
And Elanor, an Army brat whose father works in military intelligence, would know all this.
Yes, I'm over-analyzing this.
I guess she's going to a bar to locate her Dad. Maybe help bring him back. hmmm...
Ooo... Now I have to wait and I have no patience!
Man, too bad I have to wait until next Monday to see what happens next.
On the other hand, that voice was talking about "dreams", that is suggestive. In this case, mystery ensues.
I felt like saying that ._.
T_T Damn this comic. It keeps me on edge. ahah. I really hope it is made into a movie :<
This is such a well written and drawn story! So complex. It can really evoke emotions in others. Great job!
First you jump to the left...
Happy B-Day Takashi!! =3
His friends are kidnapping him and taking him to a brothel. Seriously.
Duct tape really, really hurts.
At best, this kidnapping'll be an initiation into his eighteenth year, at worst, well, I don't have that sort of imagination.
Ugh.
Mambomiranda, for future reference they don't communicate telepathically. When he is asleep, he can see/hear what she does. When she is asleep, she can see/hear what he does. :)
Sometimes I think a lot of people might be breezing through these just for the beautiful graphics...stop and read those words too! This story is just as awesome as the art, fellas.
man that sucks! i thought they had a way to tell if one of them was asleep or something XD
Heh -- Bobby commented but maybe a little too cryptically for you. You need to reread this comic from the beginning. They do NOT communicate by thought. They spend their sleeping hours seeing through the other's eyes, hearing with their ears, feeling with their skin. But they can only communicate VERBALLY or by writing notes. That's why Takashi is talking out loud - so she'll know what's going on (if she's sleeping -- he has no way to know, other than pre-arranged sleep times. Though I imagine that over the years they've long since established a sleep pattern so they know the USUAL times the other will be asleep and watching.) Since he's been awake until much later than his normal sleep time - he probably knows nothing of this soldier's original approach to Elanor. Remember, that entire scene of him at the door took place while Takashi was on that sailboat -- he was awake and therefore unaware.
We are missing the "negotiations" between Elanor and that soldier-boy -- whatever he did to persuade her to accompany him to the bar happened "off camera." I am unsure if it's the same day. There's an 8-hour difference between California and Japan (plus a day, but that just confuses the issue...) so for him to be back "by noon" means he would be back by 8pm her time. It looks like sunset when she opens the door for the soldier-boy. The jeep scenes are oddly lit, so that could be "street lighting" or something. But for Takashi to say he "couldn't stay up anymore" implies that it's very late at night for him. So I'm really confused about the passage of time, here. If it's midnight to him, it would be 8am for Elanor...
Not to mention... what on earth did that boy do to convince Elanor to give him the time of day, let alone GO somewhere with him? Hmmm.

Okay, being able to show the emotions of confusion and jealousy, all while the character's eyes are -closed-? I am very very impressed. Been impressed with the facial expressions in much of this comic since I started reading it last month.
I look forward to more.
Otherwise, still amazing stuff. Sooooo excited for the rest! :D
